Immersion doesn’t work simply because you hear more French. It works because French doesn’t stay in the classroom: it becomes the language you use to experience the day.
You need to ask a question, explain what you want, tell a story, react to something unexpected or keep a conversation going. You are no longer completing an exercise: you have something you actually want to communicate.
This combination of input, interaction and output is central to language acquisition. You hear and understand French, interact with others, and immediately try to use the language yourself. In doing so, you draw on what you already know while becoming aware of what is still missing. A word you cannot find, a sentence you struggle to build or an idea you cannot quite express becomes useful information for the next stage of learning.
And because all of this happens throughout the day, new language has the chance to resurface naturally. A structure introduced during a morning lesson might reappear later at the market, over lunch, during a visit or in conversation. Each time you encounter or use it again, it becomes a little more familiar and easier to access spontaneously.
This is what distinguishes guided immersion from simply spending a few days in France. Being surrounded by French is valuable, but it does not automatically turn experience into learning.
I will help you make that connection: noticing what is holding you back, reformulating when necessary, identifying recurring difficulties and creating opportunities to put new language into practice, while allowing the conversation and the experience itself to remain natural.
By the end of the day, the aim is not that you have “covered” more French, but that more French feels available to you.
Why does language immersion work?
